The Paths of the Scouths

The Polish Scouting and Guiding Association and the Scouting Association of the Republic, in collaboration with the Museum of Krakow, would like to invite you to the permanent exhibition “The Paths of the Scouts”.

“The Paths of the Scouts” permanent exhibition at the Museum of the Scouting Movement. The exhibition was developed by two largest scouting organisations, the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association and the Scouting Association of the Republic in collaboration with the Museum of Krakow. It's a comprehensive story that brings to you the phenomenon of the scouting movement, its rich history, tradition, ideals and educational methods.

The tale begins with the moment the movement was established, in the beginning of the 20th century. It presents a number of interesting details from the history of the organisation: a round-the-world Ford T expedition in the car’s replica, an installation in the shape of a life-sized European bison that became the symbol of the 1935 Jubilee Jamboree in Spała, scouts’ involvement in the underground activity during World War II, the renaissance of scouting in the time of the Polish People’s Republic or a hot air balloon gondola used by air scouts.

The narrative follows the events until the present day and tells how scouting educates the youth nowadays, reacting to current events and lifestyle changes.

In the second part of the exhibition the authors decided to come up with a special game that employs basic knowledge of various scouting techniques, e.g. knots and codes. Everyone will have a chance to put to the test their skills such as agility or perceptiveness.
