Wawel in old photographs till 1939

Wawel in old photographs is the first volume of a new series of the Historical Museum of Kraków’s iconographic library.
This paper consists of four parts. The first three tell stories through photographs of the Wawel buildings, show how the Wawel hill changed over the period of almost 80 years: from the 60. Of the 19th century till 1939. The fourth section differs from the previous ones. It shows the events that took place in the Castle. We want to show the effort undertaken by the society, whose generosity supported Wawel even in the most difficult times. The aim is also to show the glorious past of the place and monument restoration plans, set in the interwar period. Taken on the large-scale restoration works helped to restore the Wawel’s, the seat of Polish kings, the former rank and splendor, which is shown the selected photos.
