Rules for visiting the permanent exhibition “History and Culture of Krakow Jews” in the Old Synagogue
1. The permanent exhibition “History and Culture of Krakow Jews” in the Old Synagogue Branch – a branch of the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow (Krakow, ul. Szeroka 24), hereinafter referred to as the Exhibition, is open to the public on Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., subject to paragraphs 2 and 3.
2. The exhibition is closed every second Thursday of the month.
3. The last admission to the exhibition is 30 minutes before closing time for individual visitors and 60 minutes before closing time for groups.
4. The exhibition can be visited individually (i.e., 1 to 9 people) or in groups (i.e., 10 to 30 people).
5. Monday is the day of free admission to the exhibition.
6. The museum reserves the right to close its branches or shorten their opening hours.
§ 2 Ticket sales and reservations
1. Admission tickets can be purchased at the ticket office located in the Branch, at the Visitor Service Center, and on the website https://bilety.muzuemkrakowa.pl/
2. Tickets purchased via the website are subject to the rules set out in the Online Ticket Sales Regulations, available on the website indicatedin section 1, taking into account the rules set out in these Regulations.
3. When purchasing tickets at the ticket office, the Museum recommends using payment cards.
4. The date and time of the visit are specified on the ticket.
5. The Museum publishes ticket prices and information about free admission days on its website: http://muzeumkrakowa.pl/
§ 3 Guided tours
1. Visitors can purchase or reserve admission tickets via the website https://bilety.muzeumkrakowa.pl/ , as well as purchase or reserve an additional guided tour of the Exhibition. Ticket prices and guide service prices are set by order of the Museum Director.
2. The Museum allows visitors to tour the Exhibition with an external guide.
3. The maximum size of an organized group that can visit the Exhibition at one time is 30 people, including supervisors, tour leaders, and guides. The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes.
4. The purchase or reservation of a tour including a guide service should be made at least 4 (four) days before the date of the tour, via the website https://bilety.muzeumkrakowa.pl/
5. Visitors purchase the guide service for the selected tour date available in the reservation system.
6. On the day of the tour, visitors who have made a reservation or purchased a guided tour service are required to arrive at the Branch no later than the designated tour time. The guide will wait for visitors for 15 minutes from the tour time specified on the ticket, and if the visitors do not show up within that time, the service will not be provided, without the Museum being obliged to refund the cost of the ticket.
7. Individual visitors and groups making reservations for a tour including a guide service - in the event of cancellation of the service or tour, are required to notify the Museum of this fact, subject to paragraph 8. Notification should be made by e-mail to: info@muzeumkrakowa.pl
8. If notification of cancellation of a tour including a guide service is made less than 4 (four) days before the date of the tour, the Museum shall consider such cancellation to be untimely, resulting in a contractual penalty.
9. In the event of failure to give timely notice of cancellation of the guide service or tour, the persons making the reservation will be charged a contractual penalty of PLN 200.00 by the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow. The penalty must be paid within 14 days of the date of notification of its imposition to the MHK bank account number 95 1020 2892 0000 5102 0591 0361.
10. Persons who have been notified of the imposition of a contractual penalty have the right to appeal against it within 3 days of receiving the notification. The appeal, together with the justification, should be sent to: info@muzeumkrakowa.pl or in writing to the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow, Krakow, Rynek Główny 35. The final decision on the penalty, after conducting an investigation, shall be made by the Director of the Museum or persons authorized by him.
§ 4 Refunds
Tickets purchased at the ticket office are non-refundable. Tickets purchased via the website are refundable in accordance with the rules set out in the Online Ticket Sales Regulations available on the website indicated in § 2(1).
§ 5 Rules for visitors to the exhibition
1. It is forbidden to bring the following items to the Exhibition:
a) any weapons, ammunition, or items considered potentially dangerous,
b) explosive, flammable, or toxic materials,
c) long umbrellas,
d) backpacks and large luggage with a capacity of more than 30 liters.
e) animals, with the exception of assistance dogs for persons with disabilities.
2. The Exhibition must be visited in accordance with the established direction and order of visiting.
3. Once you have finished your visit and left the exhibition space, you will not be able to return to it.
4. With the safety and comfort of visitors in mind, a limit has been introduced on the number of people allowed in the Branch at any one time. People who have purchased or reserved an admission ticket online for a specific visiting time have priority access. The Museum reserves the right to change the admission time indicated on the ticket. If the maximum number of visitors is already present at the Exhibition, visitors may be asked by Museum staff or security to wait until they can enter.
5. Eating and drinking, smoking, e-cigarettes, talking on the phone, and taking photos with a flash are prohibited in the Branch. Photo shoots and commercial photography require prior permission from the Museum.
6. Persons who are intoxicated or under the influence of drugs or intoxicants, or who behave in a manner that could endanger the safety of other persons, the premises, or the cultural artifacts stored therein, disrupt the order of the tour, or violate generally accepted standards of behavior in public places, are prohibited from entering the Branch.
7. While visiting the Branch, visitors must follow the instructions and recommendations of the Museum staff and security personnel.
8. Parents or guardians are responsible for any damage caused by children under their care.
9. The Museum reserves the right to refuse admission or ask individual visitors and groups who do not follow the visiting rules and violate these Regulations to leave.
§ 6 Final provisions
1. Additional information regarding visits to the Exhibition can be obtained from the Visitor Service Center by phone/fax (12) 426-50-60, Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., or by e-mail: info@muzeumkrakowa.pl or starasynagoga@muzeumkrakowa.pl
2. The purchase or reservation of an admission ticket is tantamount to acceptance of the provisions of these Regulations.
3. The Regulations are effective from August 11, 2025.
