The book released as a companion to the exhibition "The Maccabees of Sport" is the first ever in the history of the Historical Museum of the City of Kraków to deal with the issue of Jewish sport in Kraków.
The Museum organized a number of exhibitions devoted to the history of sport in Kraków; one of them, launched in 2012, was concerned with the abundant history of Jewish sports clubs. In that context a publication discussing the key aspects of Jewish sporting activity is highly recommendable. The texts included in the companion offer a good insight into the origins and ideology behind Jewish sport in the Polish territory.
