The publication describes the Polish Underground State in Kraków (1939-1945)
The chronicles of World War III are focused on the struggle of armoured units of millions of excellently armed soldiers all over the globe.
However, one of the currents regarding the war was also the battle of ordinary Poles for survival under German and Soviet occupation, fought every day for several years.
Fought generally alone and in a hardly spectacular way, it devoured more victims than fights on main fronts.
The fight in polish territories changed the reality entirely it transformed the area, changed the residents and exerted impact on attitudes of generations to come.
Nevertheless those unimpressive daily actions posed a significant threat to the Third Reich and the Soviets.
The effective resistance consisted of thousands of continously repeated, minor and often individual actions and sacrifices which mostly cannot be copied.
German occupation of Kraków lasted more than five years, and was followed by months of Soviet occupation.
The whole time is divided into periods which differ considerably by the hopes of the Poles, situation in the world, current operations of Germans and Soviets, as well as plans of Polish authorities in the occupied country and the goverment-in-exile, dependent on western powers.
Those changes of situation and attitudes exerted influence on the attitudes of the Poles.
